The Bitter Storm

This was one in the first three or four originals I created. I was just learning and had yet to master balance. I wanted to see if I could make a sour with Fernet Branca. The math in this shouldn’t really work, and if I made it today it would probably turn out different. But it was a step forward in my evolution and has been enjoyed by guests for over a decade now. Sometimes your original demo tapes still sound kinda fun.

Ingredients

¾ oz Bourbon

¾ oz Fernet Branca

¾ oz Creme de Poire Liqueur

¾ oz Fresh lemon juice

½ oz Orgeat Syrup

½ oz Cherry Heering

Instructions

Shake, double strain over rocks in Old Fashioned glass.  Garnish with Grapefruit peel.
