Nesting Doll

In honor of the anniversary of the premiere of The Americans, which is a show about Russian spies living in America in the '80s as regular Americans, I decided to play with the idea of something that looks American but is Russian inside, so this is basically a White Russian hiding inside of a Manhattan, and like a Matryoshka, it has many different layers to discover.

1½ oz. Basil Hayden Dark Rye Whiskey

½ oz. Kahlua Coffee Liqueur

½ oz. sweet vermouth

½ oz. Nitro Cold Brew Coffee (I used Lucky Jack, but you can use any unsweetened variety)

4 dashes Aztec Chocolate Bitters (also highly recommend using coffee bitters if available)

1½ oz. heavy whipping cream

Luxardo cherries for garnish

Add whiskey, Kahlua, coffee, sweet vermouth, and bitters to a cocktail mixing glass. Add ice and stir with a bar spoon until chilled. Strain into an old-fashioned glass and add ice. Pour cream over the back of bar spoon to "float" it on top of the drink. It is heavy, so it won't really float, but this way it won't plunge to the bottom of the glass. Garnish with cherries on a cocktail pick

I didn’t know what Luxardo cherries were, but I got some just to make this.
