Aviation
Like this Recipe
The Aviation was created by Hugo Ensslin, bartender at the Hotel Wallick in pre-Prohibition New York. It consists of dry gin, maraschino liqueur, crème de violette, and lemon juice. The result is a delicately sweet, tart, and floral concoction that is as lovely on the palate as it is in the glass. The version in the Savoy Cocktail Book doesn't include the crème de violette, but these days it's not nearly as difficult to find and (we feel) a must!
Ingredients
1 ½ oz London Dry Gin
¾ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
¼ oz Crème De Violette
Luxardo Cherries for garnish
Instructions
Shake/Strain into Coupe or Nick and Nora glass (shown here). Garnish with Luxardo cherries.

An exceptionally good cocktail, especially if you are trying to convince friends that they actually do like gin!
