A good friend sat at my bar one night and said he wanted me to create something for him. He told me a story about longing. Essentially about the one who got away, or at least got away for now. She was beautiful and he painted a picture of her walking the streets of New York on a cool fall evening. I wanted aromatics that spoke of something beautiful but a weight that would evoke the emptiness that you feel, aching for someone far away. The pain of love can be a beautiful and intoxicating mix of things.

What a lovely drink! Trolling around the originals section, I stumbled across this recipe. I just happened to have an old tom, and london dry chilling in the freezer. This was a nice surprise. The floral notes of violet and orange playing off the crispness of the gin. We really enjoyed this one, and will add it to our regular rotation.
